Biography

International Tennis Hall of Famer, Jana Novotna, rose to No. 2 in the world in 1997, and was ranked in the Top 10 seven times between 1991 and 1998. The Czech Republic native won her lone Grand Slam singles title in 1998 at age 29 at Wimbledon, and she also was a Grand Slam finalist three times. Novotna’s serve-and-volley attacking style helped her win more than 570 singles matches and 24 WTA titles during a 14-year career, but it was her performance in doubles which earned her the world’s No. 1 ranking 11 times. In addition to 12 Grand Slam doubles and four mixed doubles titles Novotna, compiled 76 career WTA doubles titles and five times was named to the WTA’s Doubles Team of the Year. Also an Olympic champion, Novotna won silver medals in doubles in both Seoul (1988) and Atlanta (1996) and also won the bronze singles medal in Atlanta. Since retirement, she briefly coached Marion Bartoli and now works with Barbora Krejcikova.
